Celestial Tiger Entertainment Renews Exclusive Output Deal with Media Asia

Hong Kong, 16 October 2014 — Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), operator of the largest bouquet of pan-Asian channels dedicated to Asian entertainment, announced today the renewal of its exclusive, multi-year output deal with renowned Hong Kong movie studio Media Asia Group Holdings Limited (Media Asia). The deal secures first and exclusive pay TV rights, as well as pay-per-view, video-on-demand (VOD) and over-the-top (OTT) rights of Media Asia’s upcoming movies for CTE's channels in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.

Upcoming productions from Media Asia include Helios, an epic action film directed by Longman Leung and Sunny Luk, and starring an international ensemble cast including Jackie Cheung, Nick Cheung from Hong Kong, Ji Jin-Hee from South Korea, and Chang Chen from Taiwan; Don’t Go Breaking My Heart 2, the sequel to the hit romantic comedy starring Louis Koo, Gao Yuanyuan and Daniel Wu; and Wine War (working title), a drama starring Leon Lai, Zhang Hanyu and Jennifer Du.

2014 has been a banner year for Celestial Movies. The channel is among the top regional movie channels in both Malaysia and Indonesia. In Malaysia, the combined average audience of CM and CM HD on Astro, grew by 59% in 2014 compared with the same period last year*. In Indonesia, CM’s viewership grew by 29% in Q2 2014 from Q1**. 

In addition to the Media Asia output deal, Celestial Movies also has output deals with Distribution Workshop (HK) Limited, Emperor Motion Picture, Mega-Vision Project Workshop Limited and Universe Entertainment Limited.
